Goodrich Violin Shop will be pleased to assist you in selling your FULL SIZE instruments and bows by placing them on consignment. Due to the size of my shop, I am currently not able to sell basses.

Violins, violas and celli not purchased from my shop must have a current retail value of at least $5,000.00. ANY INSTRUMENT OR BOW PURCHASED FROM GOODRICH VIOLIN SHOP MAY BE PLACED ON CONSIGNMENT REGARDLESS OF ITS CURRENT VALUE.

Bows must have a current retail value of at least $1,000.00.

The retail and owner net price will be negotiated at the time the consignment contract is being formed. All arrangements and contact information will be held in the strictest confidentiality!

Instruments and bows cannot be taken in on consignment in an "as is" condition. All repair work and adjustments must be made before the instrument is placed on consignment in order to ensure that each instrument or bow will not be turned down by a prospective buyer due to "condition" problems. By doing so, I can greatly increase the likelihood of a sale. Repairs and adjustments to instruments to be consigned with me will be scheduled to be worked on just like any other repair work.

To start the consignment process, I begin by appraising each instrument or bow you want to place on consignment with me. You can choose to have either a verbal appraisal or a written appraisal. I do recommend that you carry adequate insurance on your instruments or bows even while they are on consignment since you must assume full financial responsibility for each item while it is on consignment. Most insurance companies require that you obtain a written appraisal. Current (within the last three years) written appraisals from other violin shops may be accepted as a basis for establishing the sale price. Each case will be handled individually in this matter and I cannot guarantee that I will automatically accept another shop's written or verbal appraisal.

I may decline to place an instrument or bow on consignment if certain condition problems exist, even if the instrument or bow was repaired in a satisfactory manner. Some types of damages, even when repaired well, are prone to occurring again, such as broken bow heads, soundpost cracks to the back of a violin, viola or cello, and bass bar cracks in certain areas, to name just a few. As well, some instruments and bows may not play or sound in a manner that would make them likely to sell in the usual time allotted for consignment items.

Your instrument or bow will be listed here on my web site for the duration of the agreed upon consignment time so that anyone viewing my site will see that your instrument or bow is currently available.

In order to meet changing market demands, I reserve the right to change, add to or otherwise modify the form of my consignment contract. All contracts written prior to any later changes will remain valid and in force as originally written.
